On June 5th, Pentacost Sunday, a few activists visited the Kairos Church
on Riverside Drive in Atlanta, GA. The occassion of this visit was to
bring awareness to the congregation that their fellow congregant,
Michael Keller, is engaged in unconscionable destruction of His Creation
for his role as Regional Pre-Construction Director in Brasfield &
Gorrie, the general contractor of the Atlanta Police Foundation’s
unpopular “Cop City” project in southeast Atlanta. Michael Keller and
his wife Mary Stansfield Keller appear to be devout believers, which is
why we visited the church with fliers, rather than simply their private
residence at [hyperlinked address]. It is our sincere hope
that Michael, with the support of his community, accept responsibility
for the destruction and unjustifiable cycle of harm and police armament
he is helping to construct, in the Cop City project. We are sure that he
will do his best.
We all want a safer community and future. The Cop City is not making
Michael safer, it will not make any of us safer.
Brasfield & Gorrie, please drop the contract with the Atlanta Police
Foundation.
Matthew 18:15-19
“15 “If your brother or sister[b] sins,[c] go and point out their fault,
just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them
over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so
that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three
witnesses.’[d] 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church;
and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would
a pagan or a tax collector.
18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be[e] bound in
heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[f] loosed in heaven.
19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about
anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
