Atlanta police vehicles vandalized, motorcycles near academy set on fire overnight
Three police vehiclesvandalized, and several police motorcycles were set on fire overnight.
Officers were dispatched around 1 a.m. to 890 Memorial Drive regarding damage to vehicles.
Upon arrival, they discovered three APD vehicles with broken windows. The Path Force Unit is located at that address.
Atlanta Fire and Rescue responded to a multi-vehicle fire inside a parking deck at 180 Southside Industrial Parkway around 2:20 a.m.
Several motorcycles were set on fire inside a parking deck near the Atlanta Police Training Academy on Southside Industrial Parkway.

It’s led by imperialist (or at best, empire-ambivalent) upper class professionals whose strategy & politics reflect that background. Let’s examine the political character of both movements in more detail in order to understand how & why this is true.
Across the various european-rooted empires, the classical abolitionist movement advocated for reforms which would supposedly liberate enslaved black people. This advocacy was based on humanist liberalism and did not, by and large, promote socialist politics. The following quote is how William Lloyd Garrison — considered a “radical” abolitionist for insisting slavery be outlawed immediately rather than gradually — responded to the growing socialist movement of his time:
There is a prevalent opinion, that wealth and aristocracy are indissolubly allied; and the poor and vulgar are taught to consider the opulent as their natural enemies. Those who inculcate this pernicious doctrine are the worst enemies of the people, and, in grain, the real nobility. . . . It is a miserable characteristic of human nature to look with an envious eye upon those who are more fortunate in their pursuits, or more exalted in their station.
Imperialist governments were therefore able to co-opt and absorb such movements quite easily, for example by using the crusade against slavery to justify the Scramble for Africa.
Abolitionists also just didn’t free that many people in direct actions, compared to events like slave revolts. In Philadelphia, for example, the abolitionists usually credited with attacking the system by appealing to slaveowners – most famously Quakers – in reality freed a few dozen slaves. The decline in black slavery there was mostly because the colonial city’s slaves died off without having children, & local slave traders didn’t buy many people to replace them. Not exactly liberatory.
John Brown represents another canonized hero of abolitionists both past & present. The fact that he took up arms, beginning an insurrection known today as the attack on Harper’s Ferry, makes him a figure of militant heroism, standing above others who used primarily “nonviolent” tactics to advance their cause.
Few of his contemporary fans, however, are aware that his politics were very much circumscribed by his social position as a wealthy white colonizer . He insisted on fighting under the flag of the united states (over the objections of Black ex-slaves), & also excluded women from the planning of the uprising. Even fewer are aware that Osborne Perry Anderson—the only black participant to write a memoir of the insurrection — stated in his writings that the rebellion would have spread further if Brown himself did not refuse to press against slaveowners, instead choosing to treat them delicately as prisoners & giving up the element of surprise. (The slaves themselves, naturally, were enthusiastic & wanted to go harder against their oppressors.) Even at its most militant, then, abolitionism’s politics were closely entangled with those of empire. Brown thought it would be wrong for his uprising to take advantage of any international opposition to the u.s., & as detailed above, he put the brakes on its own supposed ambitions once the sanctity of white life was challenged.
Today, we see the same thing. Abolitionists frequently criticize reformists even while they themselves lead reformist campaigns: asking (rather than forcing) the government to shut down jails, stop building new prisons, eliminate cash bail, & disband local police departments. Meanwhile, tactics like prison breaks and direct attacks on the police are generally absent from the repertoire of these loyal “rebels”.
Appealing to an imperialist state to better itself, even if you’re doing so confrontationally as many abolitionists do, is still fundamentally reformist. It’s particularly annoying how modern abolitionists—still predominantly white (but with ~BIPOC inclusion~ this time!), still generally upper class (as indicated by the omnipresence of college degrees & salaried jobs), still invested in liberal humanism (hence the hostility to theoretical approaches which center antiblackness)—choose to play the electoral politics game. They often openly campaign for “progressive” imperialists by arguing they’re voting “against” the farthest-right mainstream candidate. It’s counter-revolutionary bullshit.

Off-duty Atlanta police officer shot downtown while working security

An Atlanta police officer is in the hospital after officials say he was shot in downtown Atlanta.
Authorities said officers received reports of an officer shot on Courtland Street SE around 1:40 a.m. Sunday
When officers arrived, they found the victim, who had been shot in the arm.
According to the investigation an off-duty Atlanta police officer, was working security when he heard gunfire. He was then hit in the arm.
The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His identity has not been released.
Police stated that no officers fired their weapons during the incident
Two people have also been detained for questioning, but no official arrests have been made according to police.

No Cop City Anywhere: Governor Unveils Cop City NJ Plans
We begin by quoting the recent press release from the governor’s office:
“The Governor’s budget continues to support initiatives that keep communities safe, including supporting law enforcement personnel and community-led prevention programs. As part of the Governor’s efforts to reduce violent crime in the State, the budget makes significant investments in the Division of Criminal Justice to staff new units and expand existing units with a focus on reducing gun violence, auto thefts, and exploitation, such as human trafficking and labor cases.
The budget also makes significant investments to strengthen the ranks of the New Jersey State Police, allocating $120 million to begin building a new training center for the next generation of New Jersey State Police and proposing an additional $5 million for the 166th State Trooper recruit class.
In an effort to ensure that the State’s first responders and law enforcement professionals receive the training and equipment necessary to protect and serve the State’s nine million residents, the Governor has proposed doubling the successful Firefighters Grant Program, bringing the total to $20 million.
The Governor is also recommending over $8 million in increased State funds for the first-in-the-nation statewide expansion of the Alternative Responses to Reduce Instances of Violence and Escalation – the ARRIVE Together program – which pairs police officers and State Troopers with mental health professionals when responding to a person who is experiencing a mental health crisis.”

Communiqué about S., a comrade whose life is at risk following the demonstration in Sainte-Soline
On Saturday, March 26, in Sainte-Soline, our comrade S. was hit in the head by an explosive grenade during the demonstration against the basins [a project of large water reservoirs for industrial farm irrigation]. In spite of his critical condition, the prefecture first intentionally prevented emergency services from intervening, then prevented them from transporting him to an appropriate care unit a second time. He is currently in neurosurgical intensive care. At this time, his life hangs by a thread.
The outburst of violence that the demonstrators suffered inflicted hundreds of injuries, including several serious physical injuries, as announced in the various reports available. The 30,000 demonstrators had come with the objective of blocking the construction of the mega-basins of Sainte-Soline, a project of water monopolization carried out by a small number of people for the benefit of a capitalist model that has nothing left to defend but death. The violence of the armed arm of the democratic state is the most striking expression of this.
In response to the window of possibility that the movement against the pension reform has opened, the police are mutilating people and even trying to assassinate people in order to prevent an uprising, to defend the bourgeoisie and its world. Nothing will weaken our determination to put an end to their reign. On Tuesday, March 28 and the following days, let’s strengthen the strikes and blockades, let’s take the streets, for S. and all those from our movements who have been wounded and locked up.

The Forest Fights Back – March 5th Action Report
On March 5th, around 5:30pm, just over 300 people marched to the North Gate, located on Key Road. This is the site of ongoing “erosion control” by Brent Scarborough Company, a subcontractor of Brasfield & Gorrie. In this area, police have staged around-the-clock for over a month, spending $41,500 per day to protect the area from protestors. They have used vehicle headlights and two large floodlights to illuminate the tree line surrounding the powerline cut.
The 300 of us damaged the silt fencing on both the east and west sides of the cut. Using box cutters as well as our hands and feet, we destroyed a high percentage of the work done by the Police Foundation contractors in the past month. That work needs to be re-done in order to meet the standards set by law (a standard we do not know much about, as that is not our primary concern).
We easily pushed police away from the area around the North Gate using just stones and some fireworks. Some people closed the gate while others lobbed stones, fireworks, and Molotov cocktails at officers on the other side, in order to prevent them from rushing in and harming us. Meanwhile, the two floodlights were destroyed. Two UTVs were destroyed. A piece of heavy machinery used to disturb the earth was destroyed. A trailer used as a make-shift office, provided to the Police Foundation by United Rentals, was destroyed. All of the porta potties were overturned. The security gate built inside of this zone, which is affixed with barbed wire at the top, was damaged and partially torn down.
Because of this action, most or all of the work conducted since the murder of Tortuguita was undone. Those assembled used shields to defend against possible police munitions, but there were none. The group dispersed into the woods without a trace. None of us were arrested or detained.
Rest in peace, Tort.
Cop City will never be built.

Post script:
The Molotov cocktails seemed to differ from a classic recipe. This simple tool seemed to be only a small amount of flammable material, such as rubbing alcohol with dish soap added as a thickener, and a small firecracker taped to the side. Made in this way, forest defenders do not depend on the ground to break the bottle, as they would with a typical glass bottle. In the future, maybe this is helpful information for anyone fighting in the forest, desert, or places without a hard surface beneath their feet.

Forest Defenders fire fireworks, throw rocks, and attack construction machine
Work stopped today, Thursday June 2, as a group of 10 forest defenders confronted a bulldozer in the forest just west of the juvy today. Forest defenders launched rocks and fireworks, yelling ‘get the fuck out of the woods’ as the machine was attacked. 4-5 workers, likely with Long Engineering, hid behind the bulldozer while one APD officer stood idly with his hands on his hips. Forest defenders retreated into the woods howling. No arrests were made.
We call upon anyone who wants to defend the forest and stop cop city to support the struggle by sowing chaos along the perimeter: plan a slow-moving car caravan on Constitution Rd, or a rally at the juvy.
Workers and pigs, we repeat: Stay the fuck out the woods.
