ATTACK! &
A Thousand Pinpricks
As our world is becoming more and more a huge machine, as the veins of domination are getting more filigree, covering the whole territory with a net, then – if we want to attack – we have to be able to detach our glances from the most obvious and to try to include in our analysis of the ongoing developments the possibilities which we want to give ourselves. The more complex the world, the more vulnerable it is to disorders. These hubs and the connections between them, that we find nearly everywhere exposed, are the raw points to be cut. In a moment when even the air is burning it doesn’t make sense to set a fire where the flames are dancing already and where all eyes are focused. The radio silence, the breakdown of communication, the interrupting of command chains, these– and even much more – are the possibilities which we can find, if we are searching for points to attack with a creative and analytical look

This device was successfully used in an attack on a railway bridge by BOAK/ACCO.
It was claimed in the following communique with links to guides on constructing the components of the device used
telegram: https://t.me/boakom/89:“BOAK/ACCO takes responsibility for the attack on a railway bridge leading to a military facility.
The attack took place some time ago. Unfortunately it wasn’t 100% effective but this experience will be taken into account in preparation for our next attacks. And to make it not only useful for us but for the whole partizan movement we decided to share it.
About 10 kg of permon (igdanite (ANFO) with aluminium powder) been stuffed in a metal case (paint bucket). We’ve used an interim detonator to ignite permon ~1 kg of ammonal-3 (ammonium nitrate, sugar, aluminum powder) in a plastic case (mayo bucket). To ignite ammonal we’ve used ~10 g triacetone triperoxide (TT) in a paper case (cylinder made of paper wrapped in duct tape).
To place our detonator right in the middle of ammonal charge we’ve put a paper tube (a little wider than TT detonator) through the hole in the lid of a plastic bucket . This way two tasks are being accomplished: we can place ammonal in our container beforehand while isolating it from the external environment (it is hygroscopic). And secondly, we can place detonator with TT at the very last moment, mitigating risk.
For detonation we’ve used the ignition device made of a lamp bulb. There was a backup initiator with an alarm clock on a mobile phone, but the ignition itself was conducted with a phone call.
And also for an additional amplification of the blast we’ve placed 2 open 5-liter jugs full of an incendiary mixture near our igdanite charge – for a thermobaric effect due to the volumetric explosion of petrol fumes.
From the downsides – we knew of a low brisance of igdanite, but hoped that if placed under the bridge pillar it might be enough to collapse it. As it turned out – it wasn’t. It should have been placed in a more closed volume.
We think it’s important to note that this action was purposely carried out at night to mitigate risk for casual passersby – the bridge runs over the road, and far fewer vehicles are on the road at night, we’ve waited for such a moment when no one was there.
We won’t publish the bridge’s location in hopes that it might eventually collapse during further use.
However we call on all railway workers, who are against war, so sabotage military contracts and to refuse going to military facilities – stop being a cog in the war machine, ensuring its smooth uninterrupted work of killing people. Also, we want to remind, that the best help in struggle — to take part in it. But if you can do it personally, you always can support Revolutionary Anarcho-Fond, which works to support partizans-begginers with money for petroleum, ammonium nitrate and so on 🙂 “
[DOWNLOAD LINK] A video showing the basics of a simple electrical fire ignition
“Sometimes there are situations where it is necessary to remotely set fire to something in a safe area, such as during an experiment. For such cases, you can make a device – electric ignition – with your own hands. To make an electric ignition, you will need two cores made of a USB cable. They need to be exposed on both sides. One wire must be separated from the bundle of wires and attached to the other side, after which an ordinary match is placed between the wires. Such an electric match can be lit from two 9-volt batteries. A current of more than 5 A flows through the small wire, which heats it up and lights a match.”
The video uses tape.
Tape has been advised against (yet is used in many designs) due to it’s potential to collect DNA. (However, you should be wearing gloves, mask, hair covering, and wearing new clothing that covers you head to toe when handling items, so there presumably should be as little as possible DNA that could be collected by the tape.)
alternatively you can superglue or wrap the wire securely around the head of the match or attach with alligator clips.

Plumbing Sabotaged at Nationwide Office
In Hilton Head, SC I dumped half a bag of fast drying concrete (“quikrete”) into the toilet of Jeff Ware Insurance, a subsidiary of Nationwide Insurance. I agitated the mixture with the plunger to make sure it all got wet and then I flushed the mixture. It was already starting to back up when I left. if everything goes as hoped, the rest of the concrete will dry in the pipes of the building, causing thousands in damage to the system.
As of February of this year, Nationwide provides coverage for the Atlanta Police Foundation. I took this simple action to encourage them to drop Cop City. I strongly encourage others to copy this action. Other Nationwide subsidiaries near you can be found here: https://agency.nationwide.com/search
A Note on the Upcoming Block Cop City Action:
I am going to be there. Greetings to the wild ones who will also come. I just do not believe the entire weekend will go off without chaos. while I do not intend to go against the intentions of the main event organizers, and I hope the big action goes according to plan, but if the police freak out, I want to be there to see what happens next.

A CALL TO WAR AGAINST THE PIPELINE
a fortnight ago, by the light of the full moon, a small group of friends set fire to a large excavator and a second small machine that were being used to build the mountain valley pipeline near teels creek.
we came prepared to burn up to six machines but unfortunately found only two at the site we chose. mvp has dozens or possibly hundreds of unattended machines on their construction sites on any given night; they are working at a breakneck pace in an attempt to complete the pipeline by the end of the year. a map of the pipeline showing incomplete water crossings can be found at tinyurl.com/mvprfuckers.
we believe that mvp is financially precarious and can still be stopped through relentless destructive actions, alongside the scaling-up of the existing campaign to cause disruptions and delays. to this end, we call upon like-minded individuals and groups to travel to so-called virginia and west virginia to inflict maximum economic damage against mvp by any means at your disposal. we must demoralize the enemy and prove that their project is doomed to never be completed.
people in the area have campaigned against this pipeline for eight years. while they allowed most of the pipeline to be built, they successfully used lawsuits and aerial blockades to delay construction indefinitely in key places like water crossings and national forests. however, the campaign has no further legal recourse after the remaining permits were forced through by congress in june. the mvp can no longer be stopped through walk-ons and lockdowns, nor by low-key monkeywrenching like adding bleach to engine oil. we are not asking everyone to stop using existing tactics, we only ask that people expand their imaginations and really consider how they can be most effective given limited resources of time, money, personnel, and energy. we like working with fire because it’s straightforward to use and makes it so easy to completely destroy machines. plus, accelerant is a hell of a lot lighter than concrete.
we have seen campaign after campaign fail to stop pipelines over the past decade, and we cannot afford to keep losing. we send our warmest greetings to jess reznicek, who is currently in prison for her courageous acts of arson and sabotage against the dakota access pipeline. we regret that her methods have not yet been taken up widely in the anti-pipeline movement. warriorup.noblogs.org and tension.noblogs.org are good starting points to find information on various arson and sabotage techniques.
we hope locals will step up their game, but the mvp is not just a local struggle. catastrophic climate change is already here. no one in the northern hemisphere has been unaffected by wildfires, flooding, or extreme heat this summer alone. while we are glad that this monstrous civilization has already ensured its own demise, we would love to make it possible for something to exist after. the only way to stop the deterioration of the climate from getting exponentially worse is to immediately halt the expansion of new fossil fuel infrastructure, and to shut down and dismantle existing infrastructure. wherever you live, there’s a pipeline near you that you can go shut off yourself.
if you have not yet begun to fight, there will never be a better time to start than now. the hour is late, and the risks of taking action far outweigh the risks of doing nothing. inaction is suicide. of course, we must always take precautions to avoid identification and capture, so that we are able to attack repeatedly. we don’t want to only act “once in a blue moon”! we’ll be back for more soon. will you join us?
blessed is the flame.
doom to the pipeline.
another end of the world is possible.

A Recipe for Leaving No Trace
We were thrilled to read about the rail sabotage during the last week of action, and the proposal for it’s proliferation. We also appreciated that operational details were made explicit, though we have some concerns we want to bring up about how what is described may leave traces.
When starting a fire, the goal should be that everything that you must touch will burn, if possible. Here is a simple recipe that can enable that:
– a plastic (PET) bottle that is square – this allows the bottle to be placed on it’s side without rolling. Bottle size can be determined by the size of the signal box.
– gasoline in the bottle, with enough air space left for fumes, so as to avoid leakage. Motor oil can be added to help prolong the burn, which is helpful for the cabling within a signal box.
– an individually packaged fire cube as the igniter
The accelerant bottle is placed on its side. The fire cube is then placed on top of the bottle. The fire cube is then lit with a storm lighter, being careful to not pierce the bottle by mistake. Once alight, the fire cube will pierce the plastic bottle and gravity will drop it into the accelerant. Mischief managed.
With this simple recipe, there is no delay that introduces a risk of failure. Everything that you interacted with (the bottle, the fire cube) is basically guaranteed to burn – even after taking the appropriate measures to minimize DNA traces during building and transporting the device, this should still be a goal. The bottle and the cube can even be transported by separate individuals, so that the bottle is never legally an “incendiary device”, simply the improper storage of accelerant.
Some notes on lock cutting: it is possible to cut a lock with a fresh pair of bolt cutters without ever touching the signal box door. Be aware that if the same pair of bolt cutters is used multiple times, each cut can then be tied back to that specific pair of bolt cutters. Additionally, DNA may accumulate on the section of the bolt cutters interacting with the door, which could transfer it. If the lock must be handled to remove it, it can then be taken away from the scene of the action to be securely discarded. To avoid needing to interact with the door directly, a branch can be used to open it, then also taken away to be discarded.
Here are the concerns we have about the approach that is described in the claim:
– Dried pine and trash is not a reliable accelerant, so it is possible that it will not burn completely. This means that something which was handled won’t burn.
– A road flare is not a suitable igniter for the same reason, unless we are talking about kicking off a tire fire, when the tires have been previously soaked in accelerant. The part of the flare which is handled is not guaranteed to burn, especially in the absence of accelerant. For the same reason, a road flare not reliable for cars – it’s a toss of the dice whether the interior will catch or the flare will burn out and be recovered.
– Fireworks are not a suitable incendiary device – there are almost certainly parts of the firework which will not burn. Tape should also be avoided.
– Do not shut the signal box door. The fire needs oxygen, or will otherwise extinguish.
– Jumper cables are inevitably recovered. For this reason, we think that if people use this tactic, it should not be claimed alongside arson. Multiple tests have shown that jumper cables are not effective, at least in our region – a train still passed on the tracks up to an hour later, even if the lighting system was visibly triggered by the cable.
No trace, no case.

RAIL SABOTAGE AT JULY 2023 WOA
During the last week of action in Atlanta, some of us sabotaged various parts of Norfolk Southern’s rail infrastructure on the outskirts of the city. Norfolk Southern is one of Cop City’s funders.
1. We set fire to a signal box by cutting the lock with bolt cutters, stuffing the box with dried pine needles and trash, and lighting a road flare.
2. We disabled another signal box by cutting the lock with bolt cutters, lighting two fireworks held together with tape, and shutting the door of the box with fireworks inside.
3. We connected the rails with a set of jumper cables to signal a blockage on the track to be cleared.
The actions were simple and unsurveilled. More experimentation is needed to see if this actually stops or delays trains. That is the main reason we have waited until now to claim this action. But it certainly cost Norfolk Southern money, and that’s better than nothing. Our original intent was not propaganda of the deed, but to cause economic harm. However, in light of the recent RICO charges, we realized that people might need a little encouragement on how to respond. Norfolk Southern owns and operates many railroads across the country east of the Mississippi.
The best defense is a strong offense!

The Simplest Way to Burn a Vehicle
In light of the actions that happened last month, I wanted to encourage everyone to revisit this post. Many of the points made about riotous moments apply to clandestine action as well.
If the people at 890 Memorial Drive intended to burn the vehicles, it was not a good idea to smash windows. Not only does this increase the risk of leaving DNA, breaking a window is very loud and likely to attract attention from passerby — which is exactly what interrupted that action, according to police. As demonstrated in this video, a firestarter cube, placed directly on a front tire (or the rear tire on the same side as the gas tank), is sufficient to assure the destruction of the vehicle. Once lit, it takes about five minutes for the firestarter to fully ignite the tire, which is plenty of time to leave the area unnoticed in most cases. Firestarter cubes can be purchased or racked at any grocery store. Cottonballs covered in vaseline can also work as a firestarter.
I’m not sure how long of a time-delay the people who burned the motorcycles were aiming for. It seemed like they used delays that were not sufficiently tested, which resulted in at least one failed incendiary device being recovered. Unless it was important to have a longer time-delay, I think that placing firestarters directly on the tires would have worked better. This method is much less likely to leave DNA traces because there is no need to construct an incendiary device or to carry accelerant at all. This is the beauty of targeting vehicles with rubber tires! Fuel tanks can be punctured or the hoses that run from them cut for another source of accelerant.
Incendiary devices with long time-delays are better suited to heavy machinery with treads, or to structure fires, so I encourage everyone to keep working on their designs! But in the meantime, let’s not overcomplicate things. I’d like to issue a friendly challenge to all individuals and AGs in the movement to take a little break from internet discourse, get outside, and set some shit on fire!
Don’t forget to take all reasonable precautions to minimize DNA evidence. And please be careful about surveillance footage, although avoiding it completely is almost imposssible in Atlanta.

Quotes From Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum At The Police Press Conference About Tactics Used
“Fire attacks are being conducted by a very small group of individuals who are using violence, intimidation, and fear to stop the construction““The intent behind every one of these attacks was destruction beyond what occured”
890 memorial drive with the picture of a road flare “What we have here is the use of a potential destructive device”
180 Southside Industrial Pkwy “You see the device, the uhh, suspected potential destructive device. We believe this holds accelerants with an improvised ignition device ontop of sponge, a wick of a uhh, that this there, and then a book of matches. […] had these vehicles been set on fire the entire precinct would’ve been ignited”

20 machines across 6 sites of the construction of the mountain valley pipeline were sabotaged – Appalachia
An invitation and reportback from a productive fourth of july party
On the fourth of july, 20 machines across 6 sites of the construction of the mountain valley pipeline were sabotaged, using a variety of means to render them inoperable. Machines are often left unguarded, and when they’re not, the security are just prats. It was easy and fun. We gave a big cheer when these machines were seen being hauled off the mountains back to the industrial hellscapes they come from.
I have loved these mountains my whole life, and truly am a part of the forests. Mountain Valley Pipeline has been fought ferociously by locals every step of the last 5 years, but we need help. People have locked themselves to equipment and had their bodies maimed by police. People have precariously lived in treetops for years (literally, 2 and a half years at yellow finch). But MVP, supported by Joe Manchin and the full power of the US government does not care about the trees, the deer, the woodducks, the candy darters, or any one of us. Lockdowns and treesits are not enough anymore. I am inviting the full power and creativity of the movement to do whatever it takes to stop these fuckers from killing us all. Doom to the pipeline!

TWO COP CARS DECOMMISSIONED IN ATL & THOUGHTS ON THE WOA:
Last week two APD police vehicles were totally decommissioned in ATL & made unuseable in solidarity with the DTF struggle; this action was effective because it was done in a small group and had nothing to do with the fanfare and surveillance and cop attention around something like a Week of Action (WOA). #FindYourPeopleAndGetShitDone

Minimizing DNA Traces During Riotous Moments
- Either smash it or burn it – not both. Smashing something can sometimes involve a lot of contact with the object, which risks transferring DNA traces to the object in question (especially if you have to climb onto it). Sustained fire will destroy DNA traces, but for an object that is first smashed and then burned this is no guarantee; the parts of the object that have been touched may not be sufficiently heated by the flames to destroy all traces. In the context of a riot, this means that people with incendiary intentions should try to take initiative early, before people with smashy intentions hit up a given target. A scenario that is less than ideal: a crowd smashes up a car, perhaps someone touches the car with gloves that have been worn many times (and so have accumulated DNA on them) or cuts themselves on the broken window, then a few minutes later someone torches the car. An ideal scenario: the car is burned first, which requires no smashing – either an accelerant bottle is placed under the front tire (faster, under a minute) or firestarter cubes are placed on the front tire (slower, about five minutes). It is sometimes necessary to break either a window or a door to gain access to a building, but machinery and vehicles can be burned without any smashing by positioning accelerant in the right location.
- Wear new impermeable gloves which you’ve never previously touched, and put them on last once you’ve already changed into black bloc. This is because you want to avoid any skin, hair or sweat on the outside of the gloves, which could then be transferred to any objects you touch. Always handle tools that you are bringing with such a new pair of gloves, even if you don’t plan on ditching the tools. Take care that the tools you are using, and especially the projectiles you are leaving at the site, have been free of your DNA from the beginning, and transport them carefully. Dishwashing gloves are excellent for preparing for the action (when standing out doesn’t matter). For during a riot, you can use work gloves that have a thick impermeable coating on the palms and fingers. Have an extra pair that you can change into in case you mistakenly touch your face or something similar.
-
If you’ll be using a hammer, practice breaking windows in a controlled environment before the heat of the moment. Blood is a very obvious source of DNA to even the most incompetent investigator. The main thing is to make sure that your hand or arm never passes beyond the window, which requires that you generate force from the wrist rather than the elbow or shoulder. A quick wrist flick generates sufficient force with a properly weighted hammer.
-
Be careful to not have anything that can fall out during the ruckus – closed zippers are your friend. Be especially cautious if rummaging through bags or backpacks.
-
Any clothing used during the riot should not be recovered by the forensics team if it can be avoided. The days of leaving a giant heap of black hoodies in the middle of the street should come to an end – clothing will generally have DNA traces on it. Ideally, you would take clothing far enough away to be able to dispose of it properly (either burn it or put it somewhere where if it is found, it won’t be considered as related to the riot). A judgement call will be required when deciding whether to try to carry the clothing far away or whether to hide it somewhere on your dispersal route. If searched, black clothing may be enough to lay charges but is unlikely to result in a conviction by itself. Any identifiable clothing or other items in the bag could be more incriminating, so you’ll need to assess the risk of a bag search and weigh it against the goal of keeping your rioting clothing out of the hands of the police. Objects that cannot be concealed in a backpack (like large shields) can be hidden, or coated with bleach (which has around 10% sodium hypochlorite – see further reading) or burned with accelerant that is placed on the exit route ahead of time (in plastic bottles that will burn, not in a jerry can).
- Don’t use tape to construct firework molotovs. Tape is a magnet for DNA. Rather, use plastic zip-ties to secure the firework to the bottle. Ideally there should be two fireworks for redundancy, to minimize the likelihood of an unexploded molotov being recovered. Moreover, take DNA minimization precautions when constructing and transporting the molotovs (again, see further reading). This is especially important if they have to be ditched before being used. Fireworks on their own will likely be equally effective at keeping police at bay without risking the same level of repression that molotovs entail – care should also be taken to not leave DNA traces on firework casings. Traditional molotovs (using a glass bottle) need to hit a hard surface to shatter and so are unreliable when thrown inside of buildings. For example, at the site of the first Jane’s Revenge arson, DNA of three individuals was found on an unexploded molotov, the window glass, and a lighter (criminal complaint available here, use Tor Browser).

The Forest Fights Back – March 5th Action Report
On March 5th, around 5:30pm, just over 300 people marched to the North Gate, located on Key Road. This is the site of ongoing “erosion control” by Brent Scarborough Company, a subcontractor of Brasfield & Gorrie. In this area, police have staged around-the-clock for over a month, spending $41,500 per day to protect the area from protestors. They have used vehicle headlights and two large floodlights to illuminate the tree line surrounding the powerline cut.
The 300 of us damaged the silt fencing on both the east and west sides of the cut. Using box cutters as well as our hands and feet, we destroyed a high percentage of the work done by the Police Foundation contractors in the past month. That work needs to be re-done in order to meet the standards set by law (a standard we do not know much about, as that is not our primary concern).
We easily pushed police away from the area around the North Gate using just stones and some fireworks. Some people closed the gate while others lobbed stones, fireworks, and Molotov cocktails at officers on the other side, in order to prevent them from rushing in and harming us. Meanwhile, the two floodlights were destroyed. Two UTVs were destroyed. A piece of heavy machinery used to disturb the earth was destroyed. A trailer used as a make-shift office, provided to the Police Foundation by United Rentals, was destroyed. All of the porta potties were overturned. The security gate built inside of this zone, which is affixed with barbed wire at the top, was damaged and partially torn down.
Because of this action, most or all of the work conducted since the murder of Tortuguita was undone. Those assembled used shields to defend against possible police munitions, but there were none. The group dispersed into the woods without a trace. None of us were arrested or detained.
Rest in peace, Tort.
Cop City will never be built.
————–
Post script:
The Molotov cocktails seemed to differ from a classic recipe. This simple tool seemed to be only a small amount of flammable material, such as rubbing alcohol with dish soap added as a thickener, and a small firecracker taped to the side. Made in this way, forest defenders do not depend on the ground to break the bottle, as they would with a typical glass bottle. In the future, maybe this is helpful information for anyone fighting in the forest, desert, or places without a hard surface beneath their feet.

Norfolk Southern Rail Sabotage – Philadelphia
In solidarity with the struggle against the police, entertainment and real estate industry in the Welanuee forest, the mainline belonging to the Norfolk Southern company in Lenape territory north of so called Philadelphia was sabotaged. Copper wire was used to connect the tracks, tripping the signal and potentially stopping train traffic until the wire is located. This action is incredible easy and simple to repeat.
NS funds the Atlanta police foundation, and is also responsible for the large spill of toxic chemicals in East Palestine, Ohio. The spill of vinyl chloride is toxic when it leaks into the ground and air, but don’t forget that this chemical is being used in large scale production of everyday industrial products. Large shipping companies like NS are the circulatory system of industrial colonialism. NS is responsible for massive ecological and social devastation through disasters like the recent derailment but they do even more damage when they function with out derailments. So many destructive companies can not function with out NS and other shipping and logistics companies. How would the massive mono cultures of industrial agriculture move their soy and corn to processing plants and slaughter houses? How would Loggers transport lumber to and from mills? How would oil and other chemicals move from extraction to the industry that so readily consume them? How would Amazon get shipping containers from cargo ships to distribution centers with out NS, and the other rail roads?
Perhaps NS funds cop city because they understand both how crucial they are in building a dead world and exactly how vulnerable they are.
With love for Tort, and infinite hostility for cops who killed them.

Five years after the evacuation of Bois Lejuc: ANDRA’s Transmission Pylon burnt down in Osne le Val near Bure. FRANCE
It took two decades of struggle to create a situation allowing an open balance of power against the CIGEO project with the occupation of Bois Lejuc, which was defended for nearly two years under pressure and attacks from ANDRA mercenaries* .
It has now been five years since this front line broke following the violent and brutal eviction of the occupiers by 500 gendarmes on February 22, 2018 and, with it, a central place of resistance disappeared.
What followed was an unprecedented wave of repression in the region; Surveillance, raids, arrests, trials, prison sentences and other repressive instruments implemented have prevented and made difficult an offensive reorganization of the struggle. The psychological wounds left by this difficult and traumatic time are slowly healing and there will forever be a scar in our hearts. Despite the evacuation of the forest, the resistance continues today on many levels.
We have taken the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the evacuation of the forest to show that we have neither forgotten nor forgiven what they did. And that they are mistaken if they think they have hunted us and defeated us forever.
With our modest means, we continued the series of attacks against the CIGEO project infrastructure on 14.02.2023 by setting an ANDRA transmission pylon on fire in Osne le Val near Bure.
We support any act of sabotage against CIGEO and these Monsters. However, we deliberately place our action in the context of a series of attacks carried out last year against measuring stations intended to collect geological, hydrological and meteorological data, and we wholeheartedly welcome the action groups which led them! Together and informally we are stronger!
Finally, we believe that these structures are of paramount strategic importance in the current development phase of the project given that the data collected, for example for environmental impact studies, alone constitute a necessary basis in the creation authorization procedures. Thus, destroying them, putting them out of service, are and will inevitably be a thorn in the side of the “smooth running of the CIGEO project”.
Rage in our hearts, tools in our hands.
Autonomous Tortuguita Revenge Committee*
*We dedicate this action to Manuel “Tortuguita” Paez Terán, murdered by the cops on January 18, 2023 during the attack of the occupation of the forest, against the construction of the “Cop-City” in the forest of Weelaunee, 1312 Atlanta/USA.

CHICAGO ABOLITIONISTS SHUT DOWN BANK OF AMERICA ATM BY GLUING ACCESS POINTS
CHICAGO, IL — Friday night, January 20th, Chicago abolitionists in solidarity with the movement to Stop Cop City and Defend the Atlanta Forest glued shut the card reader and keyhole at a Bank of America ATM and “Virtual Banking” facility in Chicago’s affluent Lincoln Park neighborhood (2428 N Lincoln Ave). They also left messages, including STOP COP CITY, DEFEND THE ATLANTA FOREST, and ACAB on the ATM windows and door. The incident was in response to the murder of a forest defender by police in Atlanta on January 18th, 2023.
Bank of America is a top funder of police foundations across the US, in particular the Atlanta Police Foundation, which is funding the destruction of Weelaunee Forest in “Atlanta” to build “Cop City.” The intended facility would be a militarized police training compound, including a mock city for cops to practice urban warfare on Atlanta’s residents, particularly the Black and Brown and poor communities adjacent to the forest. In 2020, BOA gave at least $50,000 to the foundation; tax data from 2021-22 is not yet available.
Bank of America also bankrolls the Chicago Police Foundation, with BoA Senior Vice President Patricia Provenzano sitting on its board.
On January 18th, police in Atlanta murdered a forest defender, Manuel “Tortuguita” Teran, as they attempted to force people out of the forest to allow the destruction to proceed. This violence is further proof that police only serve and protect the interests of the wealthy and powerful – bankers and capitalists who will happily have people murdered and ecosystems destroyed to continue hoarding wealth.
From @defendtheatlantaforest @stopcopcity on Instagram, friends said: “Tortuguita was a kind, passionate, loving person cherished by their community. They spent their time between Atlanta, defending the forests from destruction and coordinating mutual aid, and Florida where they helped build housing in low income communities hit hardest by the hurricane. They were a medic, a loving partner, a dear friend, a brave soul, and so much more.”
Chicago activists echo the calls of Atlanta forest defenders to immediately stop the attacks on the forest and abandon plans to build Cop City.
